FAQ & Troubleshooting
Q1: The camera shows offline in the app. What should I do?
A:
- Check if the power supply is connected and working (try another USB port/adapter)
- Verify WiFi signal strength at the installation location (move router closer or use a WiFi extender if needed)
- Confirm the camera is within range of your 2.4GHz or 5GHz network
- Restart the camera by unplugging and re-plugging the USB power
- Check if your router has MAC filtering enabled — add the camera's MAC address if so
Q2: I cannot find recorded video on my SD card.
A:
- Ensure the SD card is properly inserted and formatted
- In the app, go to "Playback" or "SD Card Recording" tab
- Check that motion detection or continuous recording is enabled in settings
- If the card is new or used in another device, format it in-camera first (App → Settings → Storage → Format)
Q3: Two-way audio is not working clearly.
A:
- Ensure you have granted microphone permission to the mobile app
- Check that the camera's speaker grille is not blocked
- Reduce background noise near both ends
- Test with the volume at about 70% for best clarity
- Restart the app if audio latency or echo occurs
Q4: Motion detection alerts are not being pushed to my phone.
A:
- Open the app → Go to camera settings → Ensure "Motion Detection" is turned ON
- Check notification permissions for the app in your phone settings
- Adjust sensitivity level (Medium-High recommended to avoid false triggers from passing cars/trees)
- Set up activity zones in the app to focus on areas of interest
- Enable push notifications in the app's alert settings
Q5: The camera fails to connect to WiFi during setup.
A:
- Make sure you are entering the correct WiFi password (case-sensitive)
- The camera supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band WiFi — ensure your router broadcasts these bands
- Place the camera close to the router during initial setup, then move it after successful connection
- Reset the camera and retry the setup process (hold reset button 10-15 seconds)
- If using a dual-band router with separate SSIDs, try connecting to the 2.4GHz network first
Q6: Night vision image is dark or unclear.
A:
- Switch to "Full Color Night Vision" mode in the app settings (requires some ambient light)
- For pitch-dark environments, enable IR night vision mode in the app
- Clean the camera lens with a microfiber cloth — smudges affect low-light performance
- Ensure there are no infrared interference sources nearby (other IR devices, reflective surfaces directly in front of the lens)
Q7: How do I reset the camera to factory defaults?
A: Press and hold the reset button on the camera body for 10-15 seconds until you hear a voice prompt or see the indicator light change pattern. The camera will restart automatically and be ready for fresh configuration.
Q8: Can I view the camera from multiple phones?
A: Yes. Download VSees on each device, log in with the same account, and all cameras under that account will be visible. You can share the camera with family members through the "Share Device" feature in the app.
Q9: How long can the built-in battery backup last?
A: The 5000mAh built-in battery provides backup power during power outages — typically lasting 30-60 minutes depending on usage (continuous recording consumes more power). It is NOT designed as the primary power source; please keep the USB cable connected for normal operation.
Q10: Will the magnetic adhesive pad leave residue on my window?
A: The adhesive pad is designed for clean removal on most glass surfaces. To minimize any risk of residue, apply the pad to a smooth, clean glass surface. If you need to remove it, warm it gently with a hair dryer before peeling off slowly. Replacement pads are available separately if needed.
Q11: The video playback is laggy or buffering.
A:
- Check your network speed — 5MP streaming requires at least 2Mbps upload speed per camera
- Lower the video resolution in app settings (switch from 5MP to 1080P if bandwidth is limited)
- Close other apps or devices using the same network bandwidth
- If viewing remotely, ensure your phone has stable cellular/WiFi data connection
Q12: Can this camera work outdoors facing outside through a window?
A: Yes! This is exactly what the C680 Pro2 is designed for — window mounting to monitor outdoor activity without installing cameras outside. For best results, mount the camera flush against the inside of the glass. Note that condensation may form between the camera lens and glass in certain weather conditions; this is normal and usually clears on its own.
Q13: What is the maximum SD card capacity supported?
A: The camera supports Micro SD cards up to 256GB. We recommend using reputable brands for reliability. Cards larger than 256GB are not guaranteed to function properly.
Q14: Does the camera support cloud storage? Is it free?
A: Yes, the camera supports optional cloud storage through the VSees app. Basic cloud plans may offer free trial periods or limited storage. For long-term recording needs, local SD card storage is recommended as the primary solution, with cloud storage as backup.
Q15: How do I update the camera firmware?
A: Firmware updates are pushed automatically through the VSees app. When an update is available, you will see a notification in the app. Go to Camera Settings → Device Info → Check for Updates. Keep your camera updated for the latest features, performance improvements, and security patches.
