This article provides troubleshooting steps to resolve WiFi connection issues for your Anlapus WiFi Security Camera.
1. Before you start: Quick Checklist
Before diving into detailed steps, please confirm the following:
- Your camera is powered by a stable wired power adapter (not just battery) for 24/7 recording.
- Your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz WiFi network (5GHz is not supported by the camera).
- The camera is within a reasonable WiFi range (avoid thick walls, metal obstructions, or strong interference).
2. Step 1: Reset the Camera
- Locate the RESET button on the camera (usually a small hole on the back/bottom).
- Use a paperclip or pin to press and hold the reset button for 10–15 seconds.
- Wait for the camera to restart (you will hear a voice prompt like "Reset successful" or see the LED flashing rapidly).
3. Step 2: Reconnect via the Anlapus App
- Open the Anlapus app on your smartphone.
- Tap Add Device → Select your Anlapus 3MP 2K Camera model.
Follow the in-app prompts:
- Confirm your 2.4GHz WiFi name and password.
- Point the camera at the QR code displayed on your phone until you hear "QR code scanned successfully".
- Wait 1–2 minutes for the camera to connect to your network.
4. Step 3: Check your router settings
If the camera still won’t connect, verify these router settings:
- WiFi band: Ensure your router is broadcasting a separate 2.4GHz SSID (many modern routers combine 2.4G and 5G into one network; the camera cannot connect to the combined one).
- WiFi encryption: Use WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. WPA3, WEP, or "mixed mode" may cause compatibility issues.
- DHCP: Make sure DHCP is enabled on your router to assign an IP address to the camera.
- Firewall/MAC filtering: Temporarily disable any MAC address filtering or firewall rules that might block the camera.
5. Step 4: Check distance and interference
- Move the camera closer to your router (within 10–15 meters if possible) to rule out weak signal issues.
Keep the camera away from:
- Microwaves, cordless phones, or other 2.4GHz devices.
- Metal cabinets, concrete walls, or large appliances that block WiFi signals.
6. Step 5: Update camera firmware
- If the camera is temporarily connected (even with weak signal), go to Device Settings → Firmware Update in the Anlapus app.
- Install any available updates to fix known WiFi stability bugs.
- If you can’t connect the camera at all, visit the Anlapus official support site to download the latest firmware and update via a wired connection (if supported).
7. Step 6: Still having issues?
If you’ve tried all the steps above and the WiFi connection still fails:
- Try connecting the camera to a different 2.4GHz WiFi network (e.g., a mobile hotspot) to isolate the issue.
- Contact Anlapus customer support with your camera’s serial number and a detailed description of the problem for further assistance.
